Children Learn Traditional Canal Folk Art

Key Stage Two pupils from all over Cheshire have been learning the traditional skill of canal- ware painting this week thanks to another project from the Saltscape Landscape Partnership.

The pupils had the chance to try out the special techniques used to paint the traditional Roses and Castles design associated with narrow boat decorations.

Jane Marshall who ran the workshops for Saltscape said, “Canals are an iconic part of the region’s heritage and it’s great to have the opportunity to teach these skills to a whole new generation of Cheshire schoolchildren.”

We run a range of events and skills workshops across the Weaver valley.  See our events page for more information.
